What is myth?

The word 'myth' comes from the Greek word mythos, which means a spoken or written story. The purpose of a myth is to explain human experience. Many events in a myth are not realistic or based on fact, since the message communicated by the story is more important than telling about an actual event. Because all groups of people have myths, and often myths are associated with religion, the stories have been passed down through the ages to become the basis of a society.

What is mythology?
A collection of myths is called a 'mythology'. People study mythology because the stories provide a way of understanding ancient cultures.

Five Myths of Our Country:

1. 21st February 1952, 16th December 1971, and 26th March, 14th February, Pahela Baishakh these days are our mythology. We all Bangli used to believe it.

2. If someone had a dream at morning, then most of the people believe the dream is going to be true.

3. In Hindu mythology, Hindus believes that the goddess, Durga carries all power of the world as well as she could protect human from evil and safe them.

4. In our country, people use their right hand to give something to other is considered as good mannerism and on the other hand, people of our country do not use their left hand giving something because its considered as bad mannerism.

5. In Bangladesh, most of the people used to believe that money comes if once palm's itches.
